mayfield_mods: (Jane Smith)

[Early in the morning on July 5th, after Jane Smith's uncharacteristic behavior was put to an end, were someone to go on a walk throughout the park, they might come across an unusual sight.

Jane Smith is sitting on a park bench hidden somewhere between the trees. Or at least, at a glance it appears to be her, but at second glance, she doesn't look exactly the same. Her features are younger, more a 24 year old girl than a 30 year old mother, and there's something less perfect and put together in her looks.

Maybe this time, it's Samantha Achewood, the girl Jane Smith used to be, sitting by herself. She appears perfectly contented and peaceful with her eyes closed, perhaps napping. But on closer inspection, she isn't breathing and she has no pulse, and her body is cold and lifeless to the touch.

There's no cause of death to find here. Samantha simply went to sleep and will never wake up.

But that isn't the only surprising thing one might notice about Mayfield today. No matter where you look or what you might do, Officer Grady is nowhere to be found.]

[Oh man is it? Protip: Not a single fuck is given. Though he'll be tightening his grip on her jaw.

Who knows when he may need to throw the corpse at you.]

Leaving a message, Fraulein. In case everyone else doesn't get it.

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Don't leave your fucking bullshit on her fucking face, you piece of shit. [She will beat him with that corpse goddamn.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I'm afraid that it's still my turn.

You can have your turn when I'm done. She's public property now, after all.

[Moving his grip from her jaw to the cuff of her shirt. It'll make it easier to spin around and fling her body/use it as a shield if he needs to.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
She's a fucking person, asshole; she's her own goddamn property.

[She steps a bit closer, claws bared.] And you're not fucking walking away from here alive. Not this time.

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
[A short peak over his shoulder. Claws. So you certainly aren't human, but he'd begun to gather that much as well.

He shifts a bit, and he feels the weight of his pistol against his hip. There was a good chance it might not do anything to the girl. But it would be a good experiment, at the least.]

Then let's make it a good death, J├╝din.

[Yeah, spinning around to throw the corpse at you, Annie, while he fumbles to readjust to try and draw his gun.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
[She easily bats Samantha's corpse out of the way-- because treating the dead with respect is for losers, really-- and transforms into something the Major should be very familiar with. It's not her larger form, however, just her normal-sized wolf form. The former isn't really conducive to tearing out his throat.

She doesn't bother with pithy remarks or jokes or anything. She just leaps.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he isn't surprised.

No. We're beyond the point of talking. The Major's quick enough to put an arm up against his throat to make access at biting it difficult, because he sure isn't fucking quick enough to get away after she leaps. She easily slams him to the ground. And if she tries to bite? She'll notice a bit more resistance then usual flesh and bone in his arm. It's a scraping feeling. Like metal.

He fumbles to try and grab his gun, and when he finally gets it out, he'll attempt to push it against her and proceed to start firing and hoping he can hit. He doubts it'll do much if she's anything like The Captain, and a brand of werewolf who can only be hurt either by the strength of another supernatural creature or silver.

But it's worth a try.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Of course she bites; it's essentially her main attack move in this form. And it's awful, like chewing on tin foil but worse, and she's vaguely sure she's chipped a fang or something. It messes with her enough that she actually backs off of him, shaking her head to get rid of the strange feeling.

She's so concerned over this that she doesn't even see the gun.

The bullet scrapes her shoulder but doesn't pierce, though the surprise is enough to get a yelp out of her. She aims her claws-- much safer bets than teeth-- at the hand holding the gun while trying to avoid the bullets the best she can.]

[It's at this moment that a man in green and a frightened young boy arrive on the scene. Eddie stops in his tracks, extending his cane out to the side to stop Luke as well. There's a body, yes. But somehow, he doubts that Luke had seen this unfolding when he'd first encountered the corpse.

It's... the Major. Fighting against some kind of a beast. Where on earth did it come from? There's a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach when he recognizes the corpse as well---Jane Smith. She doesn't look quite the same as she did the night before, but she isn't unrecognizable, outside of the strange carving the Major's made into her skull.

Did that Nazi bastard do this to her? And what the hell was trying so desperately to slice the Major apart? His eyes dart down to his fake son, his cane still extended protectively in front of him. His grip around the handle grows even tighter as he speaks in a hushed tone.]

Luke. Run home. Now.

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Luke definitely wasn't expecting to see fighting. While he didn't recognize the other man, he certainly didn't recognize the beast fighting him. Taking a few steps back, he somewhat attempts to hide behind Edward, even though it's pretty obvious he's there.

He's too terrified to move.]

M-Mr. Nigma, y-you're really not going to stay are you?

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
[The Major lets out a snarling laugh, just about as animalistic as any sound a wolf could make, as Annie backs off after having bitten him. He tries to scramble up as she gets off, trying to take advantage of the brief reprieve. He doesn't notice the two new intruders, not now. His mind is focused entirely on his current battle.

He hisses a bit as Annie strikes at his hand, and he's surprised at how deep the claws get, the Major dropping the gun. There's an unpleasant squeal, like keys being dragged against a car, as the claws tear strips in the Major's hand. And what's revealed isn't flesh and sinew, but circuitry. Wires. Metal.

The Major kicks at the wolf, hoping to strike hard enough to make it back away so he can try and go for his gun. He hardly has any belief he'll walk away alive. But he intends to annoy and punish his opponent as much as possible before he goes down.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
You're... You're not even fucking real--

[His foot collides with her stomach, momentarily knocking the wind out of her. But, she's soon back up and at it again with her claws, trying to tear off anything she can get them on. She doesn't know how robots run, what she's even supposed to aim for, now. But, she supposes, nothing can survive without a heart. It's a good a place to start as any..]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Edward's almost tempted to have Luke send for Susan---it was thanks to her that he was able to take the Major down back around April Fool's Day---but he thinks against it. There's no way she's going to save his skin again, given their current status. Before he can answer Luke, though, there's an earsplitting screech when the wolf attempts to mangle the Major. Not exactly the sort of sound he would expect to hear when someone's arm is being torn apart.

That's when he sees it. Very barely, from as far away as they are, but he can see the most vague hints of internal circuitry. Metal. Eddie's eyes go wide at this new discovery.]

A cyborg...?!

[Not only that, but he recognizes the harsh tones of the wolf's voice. It doesn't take much for him to recognize that sort of crassness. Annie Goldstein?!

So. Just to recap, one of his deadliest enemies is a mechanical monster, one of his students is a werewolf. Well. Nothing's impossible here in Mayfield. Thankfully, Edward's brought along two weapons with which to defend himself: his gun and his new cane. Perhaps he'll have the opportunity to test the modifications Hiccup's prepared for him much sooner than he'd anticipated. Grimly, he glances back at the terrified boy.]

I've managed to strike that monster down in the past. And I'll do it again, if I have to. Go. [Besides. He knows something. He has to. Edward's sure of it.]

[Luke just stares in wide-eyed horror at the display. Was Edward really planning to stay for this?! It was a giant wolf and robot that were fighting.]

B-but...! There's two of them, if you stay who knows what could happen! Please don't fight them!

[He didn't want to just leave, but what could he do exactly?]

[identity profile] 2011-07-10 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Major says a small curse in his own language as Annie comes at him again. While he at least got to strike her, it wasn't enough time for him to regain his gun, and he finds himself forced to try and cover his chest, his arms beginning to show massive damage as Annie begins to claw them to metallic ribbons.

Still, he laughs to himself, trying to back away some, hoping to find a chance to kick at her again. He hardly has anything that could be an advantage in the fight. But what works? Works, as far as he's concerned.]

Hardly. I'm as real as any other man.

[identity profile] 2011-07-11 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Like shit you are! You're a fucking alarm clock with legs, that's what you fucking are! [But, if he's meant to look like a human, meant to pass as a human... It makes sense that the main bits that run him would be hidden up in that big fat head of his. That's where she aims her attacks next, hoping to throw him off.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-11 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Yep. Definitely Annie Goldstein.

For now, though, Edward simply observes the battle in progress---so long as he and Luke still hadn't been noticed, there wasn't any logic behind simply jumping into the fray. For now, he'll watch as Annie tears into the Major, taking careful notes of his structural and physical weaknesses.]

You're going to have to trust me, Luke. I know what I'm doing.

[Or at the very least, he has an idea for what he may have to do.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-11 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Luke nods, if Edward was the kind of person he thought he was, obviously he had some kind of plan in mind!

It didn't make him any less worried, but he took some small comfort in knowing that Edward wouldn't be standing around if he had no idea what he was doing.

R-right, I understand...

[...He wants to ask what the plan actually is, but too much talking might end up giving them away. But curiosity is getting the better of him and he lowers his voice to a whisper.]

So how do we stop them?

[identity profile] 2011-07-11 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
[She manages a strike to the face, though not a killing one. Still, her claws finally sink into actual flesh, leaving bloody, red swaths crawling down his cheek. Still, the Major laugh. Practically giggles, even.]

As I told you before.

You are wrong. But that isn't surprising.

[Fuck it. After that last strike, the fight won't be going on much longer anyway. He'll attempt to aim an elbow strike at her throat, seeing if it'll do anything if he can even hit her.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-11 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, that was her trachea making that cracking noise, putting a definite end to all pithy remarks for the foreseeable future. But, that last strike proved that he wasn't all metal, at least. That means she can go back to using her fangs. Much more effective.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-11 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Edward winces at the sound of the Major's attack---this battle isn't going to last much longer. Extending his cane in front of him, he aims the question-mark crook of it straight at the Major. With any luck, he'll be within range, though hopefully the wolf can finish him off first.]

Let's find the answer, shall we? Stay behind me. And close your eyes.

[Whether it's Annie delivering a killing blow, the Major finishing her off, or the Riddler intervening with a sneak attack of his own, it would be in Luke's best interest to avert his gaze.]

[It'd be a stupid idea to stay where he is, so Luke ducks behind Edward and closes his eyes.

Somewhat. He'll open them for a quick peek every now and then. There was too much going on for him not to look, and he wants to see what Edward does.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-12 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
[The Major backs away slightly as his elbow connects with Annie's throat, trying to move in range of picking up his gun.

But in the end, it's too little, too late, and the wolf is on him, fangs neatly clinging into his throat. There's no sound, not even a gurgle of protest.

The fight is over. The Major can deal with that.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-12 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Annie, however, can not. As soon as she's sure the man is dead, she backs off of him quickly, ears pressed back against her head. She manages to transform back to her human form-- meaning she is now naked, on all fours, on the ground, enjoy that-- before she begins to cough up blood, her own mixing with the blood already there. She doesn't seem to have noticed the others.]

[identity profile] 2011-07-12 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Well. That was gruesome. Edward lowers his cane, thankful that he didn't need to intervene (partially because aside from a potential attempt to pierce through the Major with his cane's grapple, he really didn't have much of an idea for what to do past that. Of course, the situation is far from over. Annie seems to have reverted back to a human form. That and she's now fairly injured and naked in public. He passes his cane off to Luke.]

Hold onto this for a moment. And keep those eyes closed.

[Edward knows a thing or two about making a fool of yourself in public. Not to this extent, but. Regardless, he treads cautiously towards Annie, sure to keep his own gaze averted.]

Ms. Goldstein? Are you all right?

[When he draws closer to her, he sheds off his jacket for the sake of giving her something to cover up with, offering it to her.]
